Volunteering with Ride High

Volunteers’ comments:

“I had a rewarding time at Ride High and saw many milestones in the development of the children in the 12 week programme.  The children are a credit to Ride High and themselves.  The change in the children has been something special to watch and be involved with”

“It has given me a new focus in life”

“ I think Ride High does a fantastic job with these children”

“I feel privileged to have been able to form a bond with the group I support”

“I can’t wait to get started with my group”

Volunteer vacancies

Drivers

A central part of what we do is provide transport to and from Ride High. Without this service the children we are trying to help couldn’t attend.

We are looking for someone who can drive the Ride High minibus or  use their own car to pick up children from their homes around Milton Keynes and drop them home again after their Ride High session.

We need someone who can commit to a regular weekly slot/s and this role could be combined with working as a clubroom helper ( see below) although this is not necessary.

Key skills  – a good,  confident driver with no more than 3 points on your license.  Empathy with children and yet with a degree of natural authority.

Experience – having worked with children or had children of your own is essential.

Benefits – you will join a close knit team of staff and volunteers who are passionate about what they do and who enjoy seeing positive change in the children we help.  We run regular volunteer evenings and events and training where appropriate.  All expenses will be paid.

If you feel you would like to help, please contact us via info@ridehigh.org or call 07507 308943.

Youth club leaders and helpers

Every 2 hour session with the children consists of one hour riding and horsecare and one hour of clubroom work. The instructors at the riding school teach the horsecare hour but we run the clubroom projects. These might involve learning about horses through fun games and competitions, arts and crafts, photography or working on computers.

We are looking for club leaders and helpers who would help design and run the club sessions to be fun, interesting, involving and yet which provide learning experiences.

The role would involve welcoming the children, running club room activities for 45 minutes, giving the children refreshments, helping to find their equipment, getting them out into the stable yard for their lesson on time, watching the lesson, helping with self evaluation and seeing that they get their transport home.

Experience: you are likely to have worked with children before and may have some equestrian knowledge. The ability to transport a child or children in your own car would be an advantage but not essential.

All sessions are run by two Ride High volunteers. The roles are voluntary but all expenses will be paid.

If you think you could help please contact us via info@ridehigh.org or call 07507 308943.
